I am Marie-Pierre. I am a writer, a dreamer and a storyteller.
I was born in Dunkirk, France but I have been living in the United States since
1985. I emigrated by accident. I had meant to come and study at the University of Texas at Austin for a year and head back home. Instead I fell in love, stayed, became a mom and set out to climb the elusive corporate ladder (bumped my nose against that pesky glass ceiling a couple of times too...)
I always wrote stories and poems but after talking Sandy Stromberg's writing class at the Jung Center of Houston, I decided to "come out" and become a blogger. In addition to Foodforthought, I write Me and Margo, a blog tribute to my French grandmother and my clutural roots. I am also a regular contributor the Circle of Women e-newsletter.
And what about the fine, spirited memoranda I churn out at work! They do count as subltle pieces of literature don't they?
If you ever meet him, my dad will tell you all kinds of stories about my early literary career. He's preserved my 2nd grade mother's day poem as well as the family newsletter I published on an irregular basis. The newsletter was full of stories about pets that didn't exist. I've always loved fiction.
There, you've been warned.
