Never quit on a Sunday

- "Never quit on a Sunday," my beloved says.
He is surfing the web, I'm drawing the next Great American Materpiece.
- "Why?"
- "Are you nuts? Sunday's the best day of the week. That's when you get to eat ice cream, peanuts, hot dogs... You get to do nothing. You go to the game. Watch a little TV maybe. Nap. Take a walk. It's not a day to quit anything. Especially snacks. Believe me, I've tried many times to quit on a Sunday. It never works. There's something about Sunday that just jinxes it. I don't know what, it just does."
- "So you're telling me you don't have data to back up this Sunday theory and that I am going to have to believe you on faith alone? You know, you're one of those people that just...believe. I can't do that."
- "Why do you want to quit anyway?
- "My stomach's upset. I've been eating too much sugar."
- "We could try low-fat ice cream next time."
- "Low-fat has more sugar than regular fat."
He looks up from his screen. I know how to spark my sweetheart's culinary interest.
- "Nah!"
- "I'm serious. Low fat's not always the best you know. If you read the label well, you'll see how much more sugar there is in the low-fat stuff than in the regular fat. Fat molecules balance sugar molecules, if you use less of one, you'll have to use more of the other."
"See," I want to add, "I have data to back up MY claims: scientific, quantifiable data printed in black and white on the back of the box." But I don't say anything because it's Sunday and we've already quipped at each other once and why start a fight (even one I know I would win hands-down) when all we want is have a nice time together? Take a nap. Check out the art festival. Eat Cheetos and the last of the granolas with greek yogurt and honey. See what's left of the girl scout cookies.
Take a break. Whatever needs quitting can keep going till Monday.
